First of all...Please don't judge me on the fact that I started this blog post 3 years ago and am just finishing it now :)

I also do not appreciate ANY judgement on my jewelry collection or the fact that my silver is in desperate need for some polish lol I'll get around to it eventually...

I originally saw this idea on another site that I will link below. The tutorial is great but I wanted to share my experience and give some more details on what I did on the inside! First you need supplies. I got my items at a Home Depot/Lowes/Amazon/Target combination!

My main reason for wanting to build something was because I didn't have a full length mirror in my bedroom. Like, how can one get ready for the day without a full length mirror?? I also had nowhere to put my jewelry...so this cabinet was solving two problems for me! I don't have a lot of jewelry but I still needed a storage solution!

Overall the project was very easy...you just need the right tools! The Kreg Jig was an investment, but since I made this a few years ago now, I've used it so many times! I highly recommend it if you plan to do more building in your home. I recommend watching some videos on YouTube and practicing on scraps before you commit to your cabinet!

Supplies:

  • Two Pieces Pine Wood - 1 x 6 x 8

  • Two Pieces Pine Wood - 1 x 4 x 8

  • 1 Piece Pine Wood - 1 x 2 x 6

  • 1 Piece Pine Wood - 1 x 3 x 6

  • 1/4" hardwood plywood piece cut 19" x 55" (you can cut it yourself with a jigsaw or have home depot cut it!)

  • 1.5" dowel

  • Ring Tray

  • Frame-less beveled mirror from target

  • Eye Hooks

Tools:

Overview of the Inside:

  • It's really hard to get earrings in there...but I don't really wear earrings that much so I don't mind all that much. You could use a thicker block and make more room for your fingers!

  • I used 1.5 inch dowels - 3 total - to put my bracelets on.

  • I have a ton of eye hooks to hang things and not much to hang...but I felt like they are more versatile and their function can change over time so it made more sense to use more of them! You can see that I drilled more holes than I used. I started to feel like there was no way I could ever have enough items to hang so I just didn't use the hooks. I could have filled in the holes...but I just don't care enough lol

  • You should think about what you want/have to store...and plan your inside based on what you own

  • I drilled in the back wood pieces onto the studs on my wall

I hope this helps!! Here is the original tutorial:
