I did some research and finally made a recipe of all purpose cleaner that I really really like! It's doing a great job cleaning and disinfecting my kitchen and bathrooms! When cleaning granite or quartz you want to use a neutral cleaner, so pH around 7! Many people like vinegar as a cleaning solution, but it is very acidic with a pH of around 3, so it is not safe for many surfaces! In small diluted amounts you might find it to be okay, but it can start to eat away at the finish and you don't want that on your nice surfaces! Plus, vinegar smells terrible...so I'll pass :)
So, I use this spray in my kitchen and bathroom, exactly the types of places I need to kill germs! It even gets out tough stains on my stove top (because I wait longer than what is acceptable to clean it...). It works great on my stainless steal appliances too! If you have spaces in your house that don't get much traffic or have anything done in there that creates germs (aka my laundry room) you can always just wipe those surfaces with warm water...and occasionally use a disinfectant!
1/4 Cup Vodka (get a cheap kind - no need to waste the expensive stuff here guys!)
- 1 tsp Castile Soap
- 3/4 Cup Distilled Water
- 10 Drops tea tree oil
- 10 Drops lemon essential oil
- Spray bottle
- Wash Cloths
All you have to do is mix one part vodka with 3 parts distilled water. Depending on the size of your spray bottle, you may not get the exact 1/4 cup to 3/4 cup measurements...that's ok! Just eyeball it :) Add essential oils and Castile soap. Then, spray and clean!
Using wash cloths is not only helpful in reducing your paper use, it is also a great way to get out tough stains. Occasionally, if I have something sitting on my stove for a while, I'll spray and let it sit for a minute or two, and then really go after it with the wash cloth. It works like a charm!\
It's as easy as spraying the counter and wiping up the mess!
